Our History

The Beginnings

Founded with a commitment to cultural transmission and recognition, Centre Issamba Québec is the result of deep engagement in promoting African and Afro-descendant cultures in Quebec. Since its inception, it has provided a space where traditions, knowledge, and the arts are celebrated and shared with pride.

Inspired by community initiatives and identified needs within the Quebec African diaspora, the center was built on values of transmission, inclusion, and mutual enrichment. It has become a key player in raising awareness about the realities and contributions of Afro-descendants in Quebec society.

Evolution and Commitment

Our History

Over the years, Centre Issamba Québec has evolved in response to community challenges and aspirations. It has established itself as a dynamic cultural hub, fostering exchanges and collaborations among artists, scholars, educators, and culture enthusiasts.

Through artistic, educational, and social initiatives, the center has brought together a wide audience, attracting not only Afro-descendants in Quebec but also those eager to explore and appreciate Africa's cultural diversity. Our events, workshops, and conferences reflect this mission, creating spaces for learning and celebration.

Remaining true to its founding commitment, the center continues to innovate and adapt its activities to contemporary realities. It is part of a larger network, collaborating with institutions such as the AACCCS-Issamba Network to strengthen the impact of its initiatives and promote enriching intercultural dialogue.

"A cultural heritage in motion, rooted in sharing and transmission."
